March 28, 2009 - Saturday March 28th marked the beginning of this year’s Major League Soccer (MLS) season. With the proud sponsorship of NAPA Auto Parts, the Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, California housed over nine thousand soccer fans for the 90 minute face-off between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Houston Dynamos. Initially several unsuccessful goal attempts were made by both teams. A highly competitive match, which at one point was tied, ended in triumph for the Earthquakes, 3-2.
The ceremonial kick was hosted by NAPA and the lucky kicker was Oscar Reynoso from Reynoso’s Auto Repair. Reynoso was escorted to the field proudly wearing his NAPA soccer t–shirt. Other fans received NAPA premiums prior to the game during the activation event hosted by the NAPA Mecánicas. Our now famous prize wheel took many spins as thousands of fans stopped by for the prizes. Those that weren’t able to participate of the activation had an opportunity to win prizes during half-time, as the Mecánicas threw more prizes into the arena.

28 de marzo de 2009 –El sábado 28 de marzo marcó el inicio de la temporada anual del Major League Soccer (MLS). Con el orgulloso patrocinio de NAPA Auto Parts, el Buck Shaw Stadium en Santa Clara, California dio cabida a sobre nueve mil fanáticos del fútbol durante el encuentro de 90 minutos entre los San José Earthquakes y los Houston Dynamos. Inicialmente, los dos equipos tuvieron varios intentos infructuosos de apuntar. Un partido altamente competitivo, incluso empatado en un momento, terminó en triunfo para los Earthquakes, 3-2.
La patada inicial estuvo a cargo de NAPA y el afortunado pateador fue Oscar Reynoso, de Reynoso Auto Repair. Reynoso fue escoltado al campo, portando con orgullo su camiseta de fútbol de NAPA. Otros fanáticos recibieron premios NAPA antes del juego durante el evento de activación con las Mecánicas de NAPA. Nuestra ya famosa rueda de premios giró muchas veces mientras los miles de fanáticos venían a buscar sus premios. Los que no pudieron participar de la activación tuvieron la oportunidad de ganar premios en medio tiempo, cuando las Mecánicas lanzaron premios a las gradas.
