BROOKLYN, MICH., – Nate Zolman of Granger, Indiana sat in awe of what he was seeing on Sunday at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). That’s because he was in the NASCAR Sprint Cup garage getting an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. It was all made possible after he was selected by NAPA to be the Honorary Pit Crew Member for the CARFAX 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
Zolman saw his father start Zolman Tire, a complete auto repair and tire dealer business over 30 years ago. After going to college to do something different at his father’s request, he still found himself wanting to join the family business. Today, Zolman Tire has seven locations, 85 employees and 10 divisions in the South Bend (Indiana) metro area. Zolman credits NAPA for being a great partner to his family’s business.
“We kind of have a joke,” remarked Zolman. “We have been voted Favorite Auto Repair for seven years in a row. We have been with Ridge NAPA eight of those years. When you partner yourself with great suppliers and vendors, it leads to success. We’ve had eight record years in a row.
“I credit our success to providing quality service and parts. We pride ourselves of having a lot of honesty and integrity. Customers are willing to pay for quality and we charge them a fair price for brand name products.”
Zolman has been a race fan for over 15 years. He’s been to the hallowed grounds of Indy, but his experience didn’t come close to what he got to take in at Michigan International Speedway.
“I would like to thank Ridge Auto Parts as well as NAPA AUTO PARTS for making this experience possible. We have gotten VIP treatment. Everyone has been fantastic. We got to visit the NAPA suite and then went down to victory lane. I had my picture taken with the CARFAX 400 trophy. Then we went to the NAPA Race Day experience and met Michael Waltrip. I am just impressed with having the full pit and garage access. It has been unbelievable. This is definitely an opportunity of a lifetime. My wife Lynnetta and I are very grateful to everyone who made this happen for us. This access has been great!”
This season at 18 NASCAR Sprint Cup events where NAPA is hosting its popular Race Day Experience, a guest will be chosen based on different criteria determined by the NAPA management from that region. One of the major highlights of the program is the placement of the Honorary Pit Crew Member’s name on the No. 55 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota driven by Waltrip.
The Honorary Pit Crew Member program will take place at upcoming hospitality events at Bristol Motor Speedway (August 22), Atlanta Motor Speedway (September 6), Richmond International Raceway (September 12), Kansas Speedway (October 4), Texas Motor Speedway (November 8) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (November 22).
