CHRIS KINYON, OF LONG BEACH, CALIF.,
SELECTED AS SECOND NAPA AUTO PARTS
HONORARY CREW MEMBER IN POMONA

POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2009) Chris Kinyon, of Long Beach, Calif., a mechanic for Sequel Contractors in La Mirada, Calif., was named the second NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member this weekend at the NHRA Winternationals.

Chris Kinyon Kinyon was surprised this morning when his supervisor, Luis Cuevas, the original recipient of this honor, relinquished it to Kinyon. Cuevas had been selected in a drawing featuring NAPA AUTO PARTS wholesale customers in the Los Angeles area. "Sequel Contractors is a valued customer of our La Mirada NAPA store," said Tony Odom, area manager for the L.A. District of NAPA AUTO PARTS, "and we at NAPA AUTO PARTS appreciate their business, and we look forward to a longstanding association with them.

" "I thought I was just coming to see the race today after I received some tickets through a NAPA promotion," said Kinyon, "so I was happily surprised to be named the NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member.

"It was neat to meet Ron Capps and see the NAPA Funny Car race and be a part of the crew. I'm an on-and-off drag racing fan, but I do try to come to Pomona every year for the NHRA races."

Kinyon's crew-member duties today included escorting the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Funny Car to the staging lanes for the first round of eliminations. He also helped retrieve the car at the end of the track following driver Ron Capps' run.

Kinyon also met and chatted with the entire NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Funny Car crew and was a special guest in the NAPA hospitality area throughout the day. He received a NAPA team jersey, experienced an up-close-and-personal view of the NAPA crew as the team worked on the car, and enjoyed a private tour of the team transporter and pit area.

NAPA AUTO PARTS Distribution Centers at each NHRA event during the season have different criteria for choosing the persons who are potential NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Members.
