Matt Allen Named NAPA Honorary Pit Crew Member for Phoenix International Raceway

AVONDALE, Ariz. – NAPA AUTO PARTS recognized Matt Allen for its Honorary Pit Crew Member (HPCM) program at the Phoenix International Raceway.

Allen is NAPA Phoenix’s candidate for the 2013 NAPA/ASE Technician of the Year. In 1995, he opened the doors of Virginia Auto Service in nearby Phoenix.

Virginia Auto Service has been a member of the NAPA AutoCare program since 2009 and the business is known for being one of the most respected automotive repair facilities in the area. Allen’s business was featured in Motor Age as one of the “Top Shops” in the country and it has been recognized locally with multiple business awards.

According to NAPA, Allen sets a stellar example for other shop operators by taking every step possible to ensure his customers with the best service available. He is a valuable asset to the Phoenix Business Development Group.

To help educate and inform the general public about the importance of servicing and completing auto repairs, Allen is the co-host of a weekly radio show, Bumper to Bumper Radio.

“NAPA is a great partner,” said Allen. “NAPA always supplies us with great quality parts. NAPA is a brand that my customers recognize and it’s nice to be associated with a partner like NAPA. NAPA doesn’t just supply parts, NAPA provides support, training, technical training for my technicians, management training for my staff and honestly, NAPA is a great partner to have.”

Allen started his day at the track by seeing his name decaled on the No. 56 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota during the garage and pit tour. He enjoyed a private meet and greet with driver Martin Truex Jr. where he received an official crew shirt. To finish out the experience, he enjoyed lunch with the NAPA KNOW HOW crew, participated in pre-race festivities and watched a portion of the race on the NAPA pit box with crew chief Chad Johnston.

This season NAPA is hosting its popular Honorary Pit Crew Program at all of the NASCAR Sprint Cup races. The HPCM(s) will be chosen based on different criteria determined by the NAPA management from the region that hosts the race.
